Obair Bhaile

Cad é?

Obair don pháiste faoi threoir an tuismitheora. Is trén obair bhaile a dhéantar na coincheapanna a dhaingniú agus an obair a chleachtadh. Is le cabhair an tuismitheora a thugtar faoin obair seo.

Cén uair?

Moltar am speisialta a leagan amach don obair bhaile ach gan é a dhéanamh díreach tar éis am scoile. Is fearr i bhfad a oibreoidh an páiste tar éis tréimhse shúgartha, sosa agus scíthe.

A set time should be allocated for homework after the child has had a chance to relax on arriving home from school. A period of brisk exercise helps the brain perform more efficiently.

Conas cur chuige

Application

Naoínín

Tá sé fíorthábhachtach go labhródh an tuismitheoir nó caomhnóir an méid Gaeilge agus is féidir leis an bpáiste sa bhaile.

Ceistigh iad faoi imeachtaí an lae, na dánta, na hamhráin, na scéalta a d'fhoghlaim siad mar shampla:
"An raibh tú ag súgradh sa chlós?"
"An raibh tú ag péinteáil/dathú?"
"Ar inis an múinteoir scéal?"
"Ar fhoghlaim tú rann/dán? An raibh tú ag rince?"

Maidir leis an léitheoireacht, éist le do pháiste ag léamh. Labhair faoin bpictiúr, mínigh na focail má's gá agus sínigh an leathanach atá greamaithe ar chúl an leabhair.

Léigh agus inis scéalta do do pháiste.

Infants

It's important that the parent or guardian use whatever Irish they have when discussing school and homework, or any topics of interest, at home with the child (use the dictionary if you need to). Discuss seanfhocal na seachtaine (saying of the week) with your child [see dialann obair bhaile (Homework Journal) and page 36 of Parents' Booklet] and practice frása na seachtaine {the phrase of the week) with your child [see dialann obair bhaile (Homework Journal) and page 37 of Parents'Booklet].

Question them on the events of the day, and the poems, songs and stories they have been learning, for example by asking
"An raibh tú ag súgradh sa chlós?" (Were you playing in the yard?)
"An raibh tú ag péinteáil/dathú?" (Were you painting/colouring?)
"Ar inis an múinteoir scéal?" (Did the teacher tell a story?)
"Ar fhoghlaim tú rann/dán? An raibh tú ag rince?" (Did you learn a song/poem? Were you dancing?)

Always listen to your child reading. Discuss the picture, ask your child to explain the words, to put them into other contexts etc. sign the relevant line on the page attached to the book.

Read and tell stories to the child. -6

Rang a 1

Beidh cóipleabhar obair bhaile ag Rang a 1. Beidh an obair bhaile atá le déanamh ag an bpáiste, scríofa sa chóipleabhar. Déanann an páiste an obair bhaile sa chóipleabhar sin.

All the homework is written down in the homework copy and the tasks should be carried out in the same copy.

Rang a 2-6

Beidh dialann obair bhaile ag an bpáiste ina mbeidh an ceacht baile scríofa. Déanann an páiste an obair scríofa sna cóipleabhair éagsúla do na hábhair éagsúla.

The homework is written in the "Dialann Oibre" (Homework Journal). The child does the homework in the relevant copies.

Treoir don Tuismitheoir

Guidance for parents

  1. An páiste a chur ag obair in áit chiúin saor ó chur isteach ón dteilifís, ón radio, ó pháistí eile agus ó thorann.
  2. Teorann ama a thabhairt don pháiste de réir an méid oibre atá le déanamh aige.
  3. Aire an pháiste a dhíriú ar a chuid oibre – súil a choimeád uirthi/air féachaint an bhfuil sé ag obair (nach ag brionglóid nó ag meilt ama atá sé/sí.)
  4. An ceacht baile a sheiceáil agus an méid ama a caitheadh air a thaifead agus an cóipleabhair (Rang 1) nó an leabhar nótaí obair bhaile (Ranganna 2–6) a shíniú nuair atá tú sásta go bhfuil an obair déanta go slachtmhar agus an iarracht is fearr déanta ag an leanbh.
  5. Muna bhfuil do pháiste ábalta an ceacht baile a dhéanamh fiú amháin le cabhair bheag uait féin, ba chóir é a fhágáil agus nóta a scríobh chuig an Múinteoir sa dialann obair bhaile.
  6. Is féidir leat iarraidh ar an bpáiste obair scríofa a dhéanamh an athuair muna bhfuil tú sásta leis an gcéad iarracht.

NB: Ná déan an obair bhaile don pháiste.

  1. To work efficiently your child needs peace, quiet and a suitable place in which to study free from distractions (TV, noise, other children etc.)
  2. Having reviewed the amount of homework given to the child, the parent should allot a certain time in which to "do" it.
  3. Help develop the child's concentration skills by ensuring the child is working the allocated time, not daydreaming or wasting time.
  4. Check the child's homework and if it is completed to your satisfaction record the time spent and sign the Dialann Oibre (2nd to 6th class) or the copybook in the case of 1st class.
  5. If the child experiences difficulty with the homework or fails to under stand it having had help from you, the teacher should be informed by writing a note on the "Dialann Oibre".
  6. You may ask your child to re-write or re-do homework that is not properly done or is not presentable.

The parent's role is one of encouragement, observation and review of completed work, not one of doing the homework, and if the standard and neatness of the work is to your satisfaction sign the Dialann Oibre.

All copies and books should be marked with the child's name in Irish and the subject. All books etc. should be kept in good order for the year.
