Mar gurb é an tuismitheoir céad agus príomh oideachasóir an linbh is i gcuideachta a chéile a thabharfaidh tuismitheoirí agus múinteoirí faoí oiliúint an pháiste. Tá sé fíor thábhachtach go mbeadh cumarsáid mhaith eadrainn.

As the parent is the first and principal educator of the child, it is important that teacher and parent work together in educating the child. In order to do this it is important that they communicate effectively.

This is helped by:

  1. An induction meeting for new parents to explain the philosophy, aims, ethos etc. of the school.
  2. Parent/teacher meetings held during the second term for Junior Infant classes and in November for Senior Infant to Sixth classes to discuss the child's progress and development.
  3. A School Report will be sent home at the end of each school-year.
  4. The homework diary, 2nd to 6th class, (First Class have a Homework Copybook) the teacher or parent may write any note or message in it. This is an informal but very effective method of conveying quickly and practically a message, e.g. Child's difficulty with homework, teacher's praise or complaint about school or homework, etc.
  5. Communication between parents, teachers, "Coiste na gCairde", and "An Bord Bainistíochta". Please check the school bag for notes.
  6. Annual General Meeting of "Cairde na Scoile" which is attended by teachers, parents and members of "Coiste na gCairde".
  7. School social and cultural events attended by teachers and parents.
  8. Parents are invited to make an appointment with any teacher to discuss problems or child's progress at any stage of the school year.
  9. Parents of most children in the infant classes meet the teachers each afternoon when collecting their child. They are encouraged to speak Irish at all times in the school environment.
  10. Communion and Confirmation meetings are held each year for the parents of 2nd and 6th class.
  11. Parents are encouraged to attend school sporting events especially sports day, games with other schools etc.
  12. Parents are encouraged to support and attend competitions in which the school is involved, e.g. Slógadh etc.
  13.  Parents support the school in a variety of ways, e.g. sponsorship funds, marathons etc.
